how to develop own website

Ultrasound

Our 2 week ultrasound rotation takes place during your intern year. Working directly with our Ultrasound Director Dr. Heller you will easily achieve greater than 150 sonographs required for ultrasound certification.

In addition to the significant hands on training we also maintain a subscription to EMSono for all residents. EMSono is an online ultrasound course to reinforce your practical skills

Our residents at the end of their training routinely graduate with greater than 250 documented scans.

Trauma

Located relatively close to St John Macomb-Oakland our trauma rotation site DMC Sinai-Grace sees the largest number of penetrating trauma in southeast Michigan. We also have arrangements with Baltimore Shock Trauma Hospital and Chandler Regional Medical Center in Phoenix.

PICU

Our PICU rotation takes place at DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan which sees 90,000 patients with 1600 ICU admission per year. This 38 bed PICU is the largest PICU in the state of Michigan and one of only three sites in Michigan performing pediatric ECMO.

Statewide Campus System

The Statewide Campus System is the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine OPTI (Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institution). OPTIs exist to enhance the quality of postdoctoral education through the collective efforts of their member institutions.

SCS has 34 members across 47 hospitals and 31 federally qualified health centers, along with 3 academic members. The program is a way for all residency programs to pool their resources together for a collaborative training effort.

These joint efforts take place at sites across the state on the 3rd Wednesday of most months. In addition the SCS provides multiple practical labs throughout the year including Cadaver lab for trauma, Ultrasound, Dental Procedures, Ballistics, Slit Lamp, and Difficult Airway to name a few. We invite all rotating students to join us for these events.
